Gerardo Marquez, currently the principal of Jay High School, will be the principal of William J. Brennan High School, NISD’s tenth comprehensive high school. Brennan will open in August 2010.
Marquez began his career in Northside in July 1998 as assistant principal of Jay High School, and moved up to Vice Principal and then Principal. He has served as Principal of the school for the past six years.
He began his educational career in San Antonio ISD as a teacher and coach at Fox Tech High School. In July 1997, he became the vice principal at Martin Luther King Middle School.
Under his leadership, Jay High School received its first ever TEA “Recognized” status; increased its advanced placement enrollment, exams taken, and passing scores; and has achieved one of the highest scores on the “campus academic record” three of the last four years.
Marquez received his bachelor’s degree from Trinity University in San Antonio, and his master’s degree from Texas A&M University in Kingsville.
